What is it with nudity and cycling? I just don't get it.

For instance, on Saturday I noticed a flyer on the noticeboard at CERES inviting people to the World Naked Bike Ride in March. Dress code: "as bare as you dare".

Then several "nude cycling" threads turned up in my RSS reader today - I didn't go looking for 'em, they came and found me. Honest!

Velorution brought to my attention the Sydney Body Art Ride, a fundraiser on 12 Feburary for the Children's Cancer Institute Australia. Dress code on this one: "You can wear whatever you want!" (Fine print: as long as you've got a helmet and shoes...)

And then there are a couple of threads on BIKE PUNX for nudie cycling calendars: Naked London Messenger Girls and Boys and Beauty on the Bike! The former is a charity effort in aid of the Bike Messenger Emergency Fund, while the latter is a fund raiser for bike path development in Minneapolis.

Now don't get me wrong, I reckon all this is a great idea in principle but in practice? Ooooh, the chafing!
