Page no longer available

You are probably reading this because you are looking for a page that has been removed. It has been some time since I have commented regularly about individual cases of road trauma involving cyclists, and a number of my posts from 2006 on the topic are no longer available.

During Treadly and Me‘s first year (2006) I was still working out what the blog should be all about, and at that time I produced a number of short posts about deaths and injuries to cyclists due to road trauma. The pattern of these posts was almost always the same:

  • selected quote(s) from media report(s),
  • a short rant, and
  • a heartfelt expression of sympathy to the family and friends of the victim(s).

While the emotions expressed were genuine—I still feel sorrow and anger whenever I hear about road trauma, especially hit-and-run—on reflection these posts added very little to the discussion and were possibly insensitive to the relatives and friends of the victims.

And so I have decided to remove these posts.

I still have much to say on the topic of road trauma, but these days I rarely comment on individual incidents—my post of June 2006, “Too much ‘news’ about bike deaths?“, mostly explains why.
