Swanston St to Walk again?
According to The Age, Swanston Street may become a walkway again:
Cr Fraser Brindley wants staff to examine how to reinstate Swanston Street as Swanston Walk, and will ask councillors tomorrow night to order a report.
The move comes after the death of cyclist Carolyn Rawlins, 32, of Parkville, who was killed when she fell into the path of a tour bus on September 18.

I can live with scooters in bike lanes. It happens in Beijing and it worked quite well. I think with more traffic in bike lanes there would be a case to make them wider. It would certainly increase the vocal user base and give drivers cause to keep their eyes open more.
