“It’s time to take cycling back and place it firmly in the category ‘normal way to get to work, to the shops, to the cinema’.” –The Slow Bicycle Movement
Road to Roubaix
Road to Roubaix is being released to DVD shortly. Pre-orders are being taken. Seriously, those guys are nuts. [via Roleur]
Now slow down
This is more my speed: The Slow Bicycle Movement. Check it out, but no hurry—it’s not going anywhere.
And while I’m on the topic, let’s not forget how important things like stopping to take coffee are to cycling. Thank-you, science.
Designs on the bike
Our resident bike design monitor has picked up these two designs this week:
Oh, not again!
It seems there is another push for scooters to share bike lanes. I’m sure we’ve had to fend this one off before.
DIY
Talk about an easy hack: make your own [cadence meter](http://www.instructables.com/id/Very-Easy-Cadence-Meter-For-Your-Bike-12/”Very Easy Cadence Meter For Your Bike <$12: Instructables”) with a cheap bike speedo. Clever idea and so simple even I could do it.

Keep it clean
Imagine yourself on a perfect sandy beach, half naked and covered in suntan lotion. Roll around in that perfect sand… feel how it sticks to your body…how it works its way into every nook and cranny.
Ok, without rinsing off, grab your trail shoes and go for a 10 mile run. How’s that feel? A wee bit chafed?
Now go look at your favorite bike…
Karma
From David’s Bicycle Blog:
If you’re riding on the road and see a nail or screw laying on the pavement, if you can do so safely, stop and pick it up.
I do this (usually with broken glass) but out of self-interest as much as altruism—I don’t want to puncture the next time I pass that way.
