&lt;p&gt;As for The Age, I can only conclude that someone&#039;s put something in the water. It&#039;s good to see cycling being treated as a realistic option for personal transport.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Surely driver politeness and consideration goes a long, long way to making up for shortfalls in specialised infrastructure?&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Good to see the Age going nuts for cycling. They&#039;re certainly not subtle about it either. Wonder if it&#039;s having any effect.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Sometimes I miss Melbourne. True the facilities are far from perfect, but they&#039;re way better than Hobart where we have one 10km cycle path, intersected by road crossings. On the bright side, the drivers seem a lot more polite on the whole.&lt;/p&gt;
